Doctor Eileen Ruger is from Redondo Beach, California, which is a community just south of Los Angeles, California. She attended Bethany Nazarene College, now Southern Nazarene University, in 1983 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Christian Education in 1988. She went to the Nazarene Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Religious Education in 1990.
She went to Taipei, Taiwan after seminary and taught at Christ's College for two years. She returned to the United States to Portland, Oregon and served in a compassion ministry center for about five years. She pastored in a multicultural area of Southern California for over ten years.
She served in Asia for about another ten years working mostly in creative access countries in theological education. She also served as a Field Strategy Coordinator on the Asia Pacific region.
