Doctor James (Jim) C. Bond was appointed superintendent of the Oklahoma District on November 30, 2023. Dr. Bond will replace Reverend Larry Morris effective January 1, 2024, after Reverend Morris's decision to step down from the role.
Prior to this, he served as District Superintendent of the Kansas District Church of the Nazarene elected in July of 2014 on the fourth ballet, and began serving on September 1, 2014, where he succeeded Edmond P. Nash, who retired after 21 years in that position. Dr. Bond was the Lead Pastor for Junction City Church of the Nazarene for nine years and has pastored churches in Bedford, Ohio, and Cimarron, Kansas. He was also the Junior High Youth Pastor at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma for four years. Dr. Bond is a graduate of Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University) in Bethany, Oklahoma, and he was ordained on the Kansas District in 1998 by Ed Nash and the general superintendent in jurisdiction at that time, William J. Prince. He also received his master's in theology at Southern Nazarene University. In May of 2022, MidAmerica Nazarene University bestowed on him an Honorary Doctor of Divinity.
Dr. Bond is the son of General Superintendent Emeritus James L. Bond, who served from 1997 to 2005.
Jim and his wife, Donna, have three adult sons and their family: Joe and Jesse; David and Bethany, Eliza, Scottie and Maisie; Zachary and Avery and Ira.
"Rev. Jim Bond is an outstanding pastor and leader," said General Superintendent David W. Graves. "The Kansas District was unified in their support of him as their new D.S. We are thankful for the faithful leadership of Ed and Judy Nash for the past 21 years. Jim will give wonderful leadership for the Kansas District."
“Donna and I are excited to be heading back home where our journey began,” Bond said. “We are humbled and honored to be asked to partner with the great and historic district of Oklahoma. We believe the Holy Spirit and Lord of the church have great days ahead for us as we dream together and work to make Christlike disciples in the nations.”
