ON VOTING: A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE

The first Word is Psalm 146:1-10

INTERESTING QUOTES FROM OUR LEADERS AND FOUNDING FATHERS:

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports, in vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars." Excerpt from GEORGE WASHINGTON'S FAREWELL ADDRESS, Founding Father.

"Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." George Washington, First President of the United States and Founding Father.

"Let it simply be asked, 'Where is the security for life, for reputation and for property, if the sense of religious obligation desert?'" Excerpt from GEORGE WASHINGTON'S FAREWELL ADDRESS, Founding Father.

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our constitution was made only for a moral and a religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams, Second President of the United States and Founding Father.

Jeremiah 6:16

"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty - as well as the privilege and interest - of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." John Jay, First Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, and Founding Father.

"The Church must take right ground in regard to politics . . . Politics are a part of a religion in such a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to the country as part of their duty to God . . . (God) will bless or curse this nation, according to the course (Christians) take (in politics)." Charles Finney, Presbyterian minister, leader in the Second Great Awakening in the United States, Father of Modern Revivalism. 1792-1875.

Proverbs 18:1

“Duty is Ours, Results are God’s” – John Quincy Adams

" 'History will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening.' President Ronald Reagan, Fortieth President of the United States.

AN OPINION ON POLITICS:

Police choose to act, and Judges decide cases. Police and national Judges are appointed by POLITICIANS. YOU decide who the POLITICIANS will be. YOU decide if the Church will be Persecuted. YOU decide if it will be a CRIME to hand out Bibles. YOU decide if it is going to be illegal to EVANGELIZE.

Every one of the following were banned due to the involvement of Christians and Pastors and Churches in their political spheres. Often in monarchies or dictatorships!

Infanticide, child marriage, temple prostitution, forced prostitution, child prostitution, women as second class citizens, the superstitious killing of twins at birth, abandonment of the elderly in the wild, revenge killing, honor killing, the abuse of children, the purchase of wives, the sale of children to pay off family debts, the abuse of prisoners, child labor, the killing of special needs or deformed children, gladiatorial combat, death games, bribery, cruel and unusual punishments, slavery, animal cruelty, racism, selective gender abortions, immolation of widows, multiple wives, and kidnapping of brides and forced marriage.

But what can we do!

In recent decades, legislators and politicians have won elections nationwide by less than 9 million votes. They’ve gone on to appoint the most anti-Judeo Christian, anti-Church, and anti-freedom to Evangelize, cabinet members, judges and executives in the History of the United States. There are over 60 million evangelical Christians of voting age in America. Yet with our Freedoms to obey the Great Commission being taken away from us, over 40 million DO NOT EVEN VOTE!

'If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.' President Ronald Reagan, Fortieth President of the United States.

It's time to awaken the Sleeping Giant of the American Church and preserve our freedom to preach the Gospel. It's time to show that, contrary to popular belief, Jesus WAS/IS involved in Politics. A Persecuted Church does NOT fund Missions." JesusIsInvolvedInPolitics.com.

From What Source did our Founder's choose their ideas?
UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON STUDY researched for 10 years: 15,000 writings from the era of the Founders and searched those writings. They isolated 3,154 direct quotes and identified the source of each quote. Baron Charles de Montesquieu was the man most often quoted from at 8.3% or 262 quotes. Sir William Blackstone was the man that was the second most often quoted at 7.9% or 249 quotes. John Locke was the man that was the third most quoted at 2.9% or 92 quotes. However, 34% or 1,072 of the Founder's quotes came directly out of the Bible, which was 4 times more than Baron Charles de Montesquieu and Sir Willaim Blackstone and 12 times more than they quoted John Locke.

THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT:

The basis for tax exemptions for churches:

Reasons Christians Should Get Involved With Politics

  1. In Proverbs 14:34 we see that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”God created government and

  2. He commanded us to be "salt" and "light" in EVERYTHING.  (Everything is Sacred) Matthew 5:13-14

  3. In Matthew 25, the Master of the servant who has best used his talent says to him, “‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’” As Americans, our vote is one of our ‘talents;’ we must use it wisely

  4. “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Proverbs 29:2
  5. We are citizen too!  (Are only atheist qualified to run the country?)
  6. Politics affects:
  • Your Church
  • Evangelism
  • Your Children
  • Your Health
  • Your Money
  • Your Business
  • Your Freedom
  • Your Property
  • Your School
  • Your Home
  • Your Security
  • Your Safety
  • The Poor
  • The Unborn
  • EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING!!!

Every Vote Matters!  Consider a U.S. House race in Iowa in 2020, where the margin of victory was a mere six votes! Those six people who voted were the deciding factor between two candidates for U. S. House of Representatives.  Such slim margins are even more common in local races. Don’t leave your future and your children’s future to chance. Your vote matters.

We impact future generations.  Our children and our children’s children are impacted by how we vote and by the actions taken by officials we elect—or by judges appointed by elected officials.

The impact of our votes on the judiciary alone is sobering when we look at Roe v. Wade and its reversal after nearly half a century of unconstitutional rule . . . and millions of lives lost. Voters were partially responsible for both decisions made by justices who were appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.

We must also remember that we impact our children not just with our vote, but with our example. Are we setting an example of someone who is a conformer to culture, or changer of culture?

Are we leaving a legacy, as our forefathers did for us, as people who would devote our “lives, fortunes, and sacred honor” for liberty—not just ours, but our children’s?

The Pharisees were the religious and political leaders at the time of Jesus.  Matthew 23:23-24

"Good" and "evil" as defined by the Bible.  Romans 13:1-4.

Two questions from apologist, Frank Turek:

  1. Should Christians care about how people are treated?
  2. Should Christians care how people are treated by their government?

The last Word is this:  Isaiah 6:1-3

The purpose of a Christian church in not to encourage their congregatio to rely upon politics and men and women in Congress to solve their problems. The purpose of a Christian church is to teach their people to trust in God. Using a church to promote politics detracts from its main purpose. Jesus did not engage in politics.
